About Us

Classical Pilates studio in Lexington KY

If You Have Ever Thought, “There Has to Be a Better Way,” There Is.

Most people find Pilates after years of trying to make other workouts do what they need.

Maybe you have taken classes, followed programs online, bought the latest equipment, focused on core work, stretched more, lifted heavier, or pushed harder, but your body still does not feel as strong, supported, or balanced as you want it to feel.

Karam Pilates was created for people ready for a better, more effective approach to movement.

A private Classical Pilates studio in Lexington, KY, Karam Pilates combines clinical understanding with the method Joseph Pilates called Contrology. Here, history, goals, concerns, and movement patterns all matter.

Training is individualized, guided, and supported with purpose. There is a clear path, a trained eye, and a program built to develop strength, control, alignment, and confidence that lasts.

Mission and Values

I believe movement becomes powerful medicine when it is taught with intention.

As a third-generation Classical Pilates teacher, I am committed to preserving Joseph Pilates’ work as it was passed down to my mentors and on to me. I teach the method with respect for the exercises, order, apparatus, and guiding principles.

At Karam Pilates, every exercise has a purpose. The work is taught with care, adapted thoughtfully for each client, and progressed when the client is ready. My goal is always to provide safe, effective programming that builds strength, improves movement, and supports the body beyond the studio.

About the Founder

Kayla Karam, PA-C

Classical Pilates Teacher

Movement has always been part of my life. After two C-sections and two hip surgeries, I was left with a body that felt unfamiliar. As a mother of two young children and a group fitness instructor, I was still very active, yet dealing with aches, pain, and movement limitations that did not match the life I wanted to live.

I was introduced to Pilates after my second hip surgery, and what began as part of my own recovery quickly became something much deeper. As I learned more, I realized Pilates was more than exercise. In its purest form, the Pilates method is a way of life, a framework for understanding the body, gaining control, and moving with greater awareness.

My background as a Physician Assistant includes work in OB-GYN and orthopedic surgery, and I am a graduate of Alycea Ungaro’s Real Pilates Teacher Training program. Through these experiences, I am able to apply clinical understanding to the way I teach, creating Pilates lessons that are thoughtful, safe, effective, and designed to support the body beyond the studio.

Our Studio

Karam Pilates is a small, private Classical Pilates studio located in South Lexington. The space is quiet, thoughtfully arranged, and designed to help you focus on your movement without the distractions of a crowded room.

Sessions are offered by appointment as private, duet, or micro group lessons with no more than three to four clients. The intimate setting allows for careful instruction, individual attention, and a workout that remains purposeful and closely guided.

The studio is fully equipped with Classical Pilates apparatus by Gratz and Tirado, including reformers, mats, Cadillac, chairs, barrels, and more. Each piece has been carefully selected for its craftsmanship, quality, and connection to the original method, creating a refined studio experience where every detail supports the work.

What Sets Karam Pilates Apart

Medical Expertise. Classical Method.

As both a Physician Assistant and a comprehensively trained Classical Pilates teacher, I bring a clinical understanding of the body and a trained eye for movement to each lesson.

Corrective Movement Approach

I pay close attention to how your body moves, where it compensates, and what may be limiting strength, balance, or comfort.

Small by Design

Sessions are offered as private, duet, or very small group lessons so each client receives focused instruction and personal attention. You are seen, guided, and progressed with care.
